• Cottage garden

A fresh design approach was needed to integrate this delightful cottage and modern extension to create a garden that looks as though it has always been there. Reclaimed setts, York stone and bricks were used for a sheltered seating area near a small raised pool fed by three reclaimed clay pipes. Stimulating burnt orange, cream, blue and grey provides lasting plant colour summer-long, while a sense of maturity was quickly achieved by planting occasional wall and paving joints with creeping herbs and sprawling daisies. A low clipped Box knot garden and standard Golden Hollies define the cottage entrance, and an old well is softened with dwarf ferns and Euphorbia.
